"Pieces of Her" Photoshop Design

This image is about surviving heavy, painful moments and still finding the strength to love and forgive as if your heart has never been hurt. The cracks show the struggles that have worn her down, while the roses symbolize the softness, hope, and love that still live within her despite everything.

My Role: My role in this project was the designer and photo editor. I created the concept, compositing in Photoshop, and made all the stylistic choices for the final image.

Target Audience: The target audience is people who connect deeply with emotional artwork or feel very in tune with their inner feelings. Especially young adults who have gone through personal challenges. The purpose of the piece is to express vulnerability, and the idea of finding softness even after being hurt and torn apart.

My Thought Process: My concept focused on the contrast between strength and softness. I used cracks in the statue to represent emotional damage and past struggles, and the roses to symbolize hope, love, and the parts of ourselves that stay gentle. I added the green, algae like lines to create a deeper feeling, almost like the emotions that leak through the cracks. Also knowing they’d compliment the roses due to color you’d see on a rose stem. One of the biggest challenges was messing with the coloring of the pieces. I’m not very good at photoshop so i tend to stay away from it lol.

What I Learned: learned how powerful visual symbolism can be when telling an emotional story. I also learned a lot about layering, blending modes, and how small adjustments in color and texture can completely change the mood of a piece. Overall, it taught me to think more deeply about the meaning and my intentions behind my design choices.
